THE FIVE GREATEST WARRIORS ARE ALMOST HERE!!
Well, it’s only a matter of days now till the Australian released of The Five Greatest Warriors on October 20 and I’m getting very excited.
I feel like I’ve been sitting on this box of dynamite for a long time now (I finished the first draft in August 2008 and then just revised, revised, revised it to make it perfect). It’s a big, sprawling story and I wanted it to absolutely rock.
The back cover of the jacket says it all:
IT’S NOT THE FALL THAT KILLS YOU.
To date, only one fan has figured out how Jack gets out of his predicament, but all will be revealed soon! I like to think if The Six Sacred Stones was the cake, then this one is all the icing. I truly hope you like The Five Greatest Warriors!
THE 5GW YOUTUBE TRAILER
If you haven’t seen it yet, jump over to YouTube and check out Pan Macmillan’s awesome trailer for The Five Greatest Warriors. Here’s the link:
It’s very Lord of the Rings and absolutely awesome. Cinematic and blockbustery. The opening poem recited by the woman’s voice is from the first page of the novel in which the five warriors are mentioned.
I particularly love it when the music rises…!
AUTHOR TOUR DATES: AUSTRALIA.
I’m going to be doing many signings around Australia over the coming month. I’ll be doing a Dymocks Literary Event in each capital city of Australia (during which I’ll give a talk about planning, writing and researching The Five Greatest Warriors and of course, sign books!) plus regular signings at bookstores and department stores.
The first Dymocks Literary Event is in Sydney on the actual day of release, October 20, at 6:30pm at the Shangri-La Hotel (176 Cumberland St, Sydney; cost: $36 members, $40 non members includes light refreshments. Bookings: 02 94494366.)
On that day, I’ll also be at Kmart Castle Hill at lunchtime, doing a signing.
Check out the Public Events section on the site for all the other events. Come along and say hi!
WHERE I’VE BEEN TRAVELLING: L.A., SCOTLAND AND ISTANBUL
I’ve just returned from a three-week trip to Los Angeles (did some movie meetings: the Scarecrow screenplay, meeting producers), Scotland (a golfing pilgrimage during which I played some of the great Scottish courses, including The Old Course at St Andrew’s and Turnberry; as most people know, I love my golf!), and finally, on the way home, Natalie and stopped in Istanbul.
I’ve been researching Istanbul lately for a secret project (!) and going there helped me picture a few things. Got a great twist for a new Jack West novel, too…
Well, I’d better dash. Only days to go now…. (And remember to check my Twitter page “Matthew_Reilly” for up-to-the-minute announcements.)
