Email Matthew Reilly

Yes, this is where you can contact Matthew Reilly, subject to a few minor caveats:

Dear Readers,

I’m very sorry to admit this, but your incoming emails have finally overwhelmed me!

Finding myself several thousand emails behind, I have to make the tough call and announce that, sadly, I now can’t read every email that comes through. But I will do my best, so please keep emailing me. I will always keep an eye on the emails coming in.

A few tips:

IF YOU ARE A SCHOOL: If you happen to be a school inviting me to speak to your students, write your SCHOOL NAME in CAPS in the subject line – so I (or my assistant) will spot you straight away! You never know, I may just say yes. I like coming to address schools when my writing schedule permits.

IF YOU ARE WRITING A NOVEL: If you are writing a novel, please check my Frequently Asked Questions section – all I know about writing is laid out there. I’ve had many very sweet people writing to me recently asking ‘How do I start writing a novel?’ and I just can’t reply to every one of you individually. (The answer, at least for me, is: get the ending in your head and then just write till you reach it.)

IF YOU SEND ME AN IDEA FOR A STORY: Please don’t be offended, but I won’t read it. I actually can’t read it. As a professional author, I don’t want there to be any issue at all about where my stories come from—my head—and that means I don’t read anything that gets sent to me. I appreciate your generosity, but I’d hate for anyone to think I pinched their idea, and so I must have this blanket rule and just not read any ideas that get sent in.

Thank you and happy reading,

Matthew Reilly
